Déplacement

This project revolves around the idea of displacement, which a person may experience when moving into a new country. In this case, each subject represents an international student at the College of Charleston who has moved to the United States for various reasons. During their transition into this new country, each subject experienced certain emotions and feeling they have felt, and expressed them during the process of photographing. Using a flash and digital camera, some of their movements were captured with blurred motions in order to represent an identity transformation created by assimilation.
